Deckers x Forter

Deckers x Forter

How a $1.9 billion footwear brand stopped letting manual fraud reviews slow down its global ambitions — and put operational efficiency back in stride.

Deckers owns some of the most recognizable shoe brands in the world. What they didn't own was a fraud prevention process that could keep up with international growth. A rules-based system and manual review queue was quietly creating bottlenecks — slowing approvals, delaying fulfillment, and introducing friction at exactly the wrong moment in the customer journey.

This case study had thinner source material than most, which made the writing challenge more interesting. The goal was to find the real story underneath the metrics — a global brand hitting a very human operational ceiling — and tell it without leaning on jargon to fill the gaps. Sometimes "putting its best foot forward" isn't just a headline pun. It's actually what's at stake.
